DANCERS AUDITION FOR SPRING PRODUCTION

Student dancers audition Jan. 29 for the annual Spring Dance Concert presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance. Performers will be asked to demonstrate skill in a variety of dance styles.

TAKE PART IN THE ANNUAL DAY OF SERVICE

Students, faculty and staff can join the annual Day of Service honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Activities are scheduled from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Performance Center, with a blood drive from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

CAL U PROVIDES FULLY 'WIRELESS' CAMPUS

Students, faculty, staff and Cal U visitors will now have easy access to the Wi-Fi network through an additional 900 Wi-Fi access points. This project gives users increased capacity, broader coverage and faster service both indoors and outdoors.

WORK OF YOUNG ARTISTS, WRITERS ON DISPLAY

Artwork and creative writing by students in Washington, Greene and Fayette counties will be on display in Gallagher Hall through Feb. 12 as part of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

GLOBAL ONLINE RANKED BEST IN NATION AGAIN

A nationwide survey of online schools ranked Cal U best for online education for a second consecutive year. Rankings are based on cost of tuition and books, student-to-faculty ratios, graduation and retention rates, and the rate at which students repay their college loans on time.

FALL 2011 DEAN'S LIST

The Fall 2011 dean's list at Cal U recognizes students who earned a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher this semester.

SEE LEONARDO DA VINCI'S 'MACHINES IN MOTION'

An interactive exhibit that opened Jan. 2 in the Convocation Center features 40 replicas of machines - an armored car, a working robot, a revolving crane and more - designed by famed artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci.

SOPRANO SINGER ALVI OPENS 2012 RECITAL SERIES

The Cal U Recital Series will open its 2012 season with soprano Diba Alvi at 8 p.m. Feb. 2 in Old Main Chapel. Alvi was the winner of the 2006 Pittsburgh Concert Society Competition and the Tuesday Musical Club Individual Artist Award.

This interactive exhibition is open from noon-8 p.m. daily in the Convocation Center. Visitors can manipulate 40 full-size replicas of Leonardo da Vinci’s groundbreaking machines, painstakingly crafted from da Vinci’s own technical drawings.

VULCAN FLYER EXTENDED HOURS BEGIN JAN. 23

Starting Jan. 23, the Vulcan Flyer will run from 5:30 a.m.-1:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m.-11:30 p.m Sundays.

ON CAMPUS SHUTTLE ADDS WEEKEND HOURS

The On Campus Shuttle is now operating on the weekends from noon-8 p.m. every Satruday and Sunday. The shuttle will continue to operate from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

DIRECTIONS TO CAL U'S ROADMAN PARK

From the Cal U entrance, follow Third Street to the traffic light at Wood. Turn left; continue uphill to the stop sign. Bear left slightly to continue on California Road (Route 88). Roadman Park is on your right. For parking, use the entrance just AFTER Adamson Stadium.

PARKING REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Students, faculty and staff who wish to park at Cal U must register online and obtain a parking permit/hang tag. Permits are required for parking on the main campus and at Roadman Park. Registration is open year ’round. Click "more" for step-by-step instructions.

UNIVERSITY AVENUE NOW ONE-WAY STREET

University Avenue has been permanently restricted to one-way traffic between Third Street and Second Street, in front of Old Main. A portion of Second Street, in front of Eberly Science and Technology Center, now is a one-way street, as well. Click "more" for details and a route map.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF HAMER RAILROAD CROSSING

Starting July 7, the Hamer Railroad crossing will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. Vehicles may use the Beazel Street crossing to access parking lot 4. Pedestrians can continue to cross at Hamer.

RETURNING PARKING PERMITS

Any student who chooses to return his or her parking permit, including those who are leaving the University, will receive a refund if the parking hang-tag is returned within the first five weeks of the semester. Click "more" to see a pro-rated rate table for refunds.

Riders who use the Vulcan Flyer can register to receive text messages with the latest news about delays or changes in shuttle service. Sign-up is free; standard fees for text messages may apply.

MMVTA OFFERS FREE BUS SERVICES FOR STUDENTS

The Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority has announced several new or updated routes, including free bus services from the park-and-ride lot in Large, Pa., for students with valid CalCards. For more information click  here.

HANDICAPPED, VISITOR PARKING

Handicapped access parking spaces are available on the main campus. All bus service between Roadman Park and main campus is handicapped accessible. Limited handicapped parking for visitors is available at the Vulcan Garage.
